pretty things

So everyday i go to this shop to work where i am surrounded by pretty things. SURROUNDED. And not just any old pretty things, but the kind of things you can put together and create more pretty things. That is pretty cool ain't it?

The prettiest thing that made me smile sometime last week, when i was alone with the pretty things was this glimmer mist. I shook them all up and watched the pearly, shimmery bits blend in with the coloured liquids, until each molecule became incandescent.

Last week on my off day, i was thrilled that i sat down and finished a whole minibook in one sitting! For once! It's a Maya Road Chipboard minibook in the shape of a postage stamp and it came inside a chipboard mailbox. So i mailed it off the very next day. Excitedly. Unfortunately, the recipient has yet to receive it. Despite the expedietd mail service i opted for=(. Stay tuned to see if it makes it to its destination. Want a peek?

a quick trip

The worst thing about going on a trip is knowing it will end. each moment you savour you can't help but feel brings you closer to its end. especially one you've been looking forward to for so long. so i went and now i'm back. and my most treasured thing i've brought back is not one of my purchases, but the photos i have. I can't wait to scrap them and wish i'd taken MORE photos!
Nevertheless, i had a great time. Was happy to attend mr happy's convocation, after many years of diligent study. many many years. Managed to catch up with some old friends as well. This is what i'm gonna use for my scrapbook of the trip. The plan is not to let too much time lapse before it gets scrapped. Keeping fingers crossed.

ideas

Do you really store your ideas in an idea bank? Deposit it for safekeeping only to withdraw when necessary And what if you run out of them? Do you ever get the fear that you're just going to run flat out of new and exciting ideas? I do.
What do you do to get the ideas coming? How do you get inspired again? Lately what I've done is just looked around the shop, at the stuff, and thankfully the ideas are swirling. We'll see how it all turns out.;)
I guess i really should jot down my ideas in a notebook when they come out of the blue. So when i need them they're there for the taking.

Meanwhile i am excited about class tomorrow.

Bloom & Flourish Scrap Express. Flower Power! Let's have a blast, shall we?
Have a good weekend everyone. Happy Scrapping!

almost the end of the week?

So eventhough it's late, or rather, early, if i don't blog now i don't know when i will. i was searching my email earlier today for some old information, and midsearch i came across some emails from a couple of years back. which got me thinking of creating a mini album/layout using the emails as the main subject. This has been done over and over in novels, using emails to help chug the story along, but wow, with all that content and history in these emails, they'd make a great scrapbook. It's like digital letters, the best of which should be printed out, same like our photos. hmm...more project ideas...
It's Father's Day this sunday, people!! Our aussie friends are triumphantly telling me their Father's Day is only in September. Well, for the rest of us, we've got 2 more days to come up with something brilliant for dear ol dad...

zoo keeper

i was so going to blog on sunday. things came up and now suddenly it's thursday! gasp. so anyways, for a few days last week, i had the opportunity to be in charge of the animals at home. i fed them , cleaned up their waste and took them walking. i must say it was a very interesting experience. the dogs, for one, are not those tiny pups, they're kinda huge. First i have to deck myself in some dark coloured somewhat ratty clothes. Because they tend to get overexcited when they see me and put their muddy paws on me. One day, the big guy dog licked me right on my face. heh.
I felt like a zookeeper, skilfully letting myself into the enclosure without letting the rowdier dogs out, or opening the gate to let just one of them out at a time. very tricky business i must say.
The oldest female dog, is usually a listless creature lying around with not a care in the world. But when i go outside with the dog food, she SPRINGS to life and wags her tail, wallops her food faster than i eat mine! (and some people know i tend to wolf down my food) Right after she's done with dinner she hops around ready for her after meal walk. After trotting about for a bit, she'll sniff out a suitable spot..do her business... and then..she'll just run straight home with me chasing after her. HILARIOUS creature.
It does do one good to spend some time each day with dogs, especially doing something like walking them and waiting for them to do what they gotta do, time slows down...you talk to the doggies and they just listen (or so i like to think).
Now that i have been relieved of those duties, i kinda miss it. maybe i can volunteer to do it periodically. =p

may day

oh no. I hadn't realized it's been that long since i last posted. So often i'm blogging in my head that i forget it isn't actually posted. the past week has been busy busy busy with a bunch of full classes clustered together and planing new classes for next month. We have been meeting so many new friends at the shoppe and of course it is such a joy also to see our old pals. These ladies are so friendly too and strike up conversations with fellow visitors of the shoppe. I wonder what reaction i'd get if i suddenly told a stranger at vincci, "eh, that pair of shoes are really nice!"

A couple of weeks back on my day off, i went on a little adventure with my favourite companion. I just wanted to share some pictures with you. I'd read about this quaint cottage on a hill on penang hill. Strawberry Hill, they call it. (a hill upon a hill) In an IWA mag, there was an article of this David Brown's Restaurant, serving English food (think tea & scones!). Ever since I went on a holiday to Cameron Highlands a couple of years back, i'd been dying to go back and have tea & scones and whaddya know, this David's Brown's place is owned by the same owner of Ye Olde Smokehouse.

To cut back on the background history, we had a lovely time at this "English garden", enjoyed the cool air, marvelled at the view and of course, savoured our tea & scones. (and other delicacies) You can be sure i will scrap loads about my little adventure.

made this little ATC during the crop on thursday. It's a wonder we got anything done with all the banter and laughter!

novel

nov-el. Adj
new, original, and different, and often particularly interesting or unusual as well.

“ so fun to see everyone’s layouts, same but different”.

I say this every time we end a class and see duplicates of a sample layout. And it is fun, especially with scrap express, because these troopers churn out 3 different layouts by the end of 3 hours, with a variety of photos and events. And most importantly, their individual stories.

It is so exciting to see a sample or a sketch evolve as each person adds or subtracts certain elements, and adapts the design to suit their theme or purpose. I learn from these people, every time we come together.

These pictures should’ve been up last week after class. Sorry, nat=p.

tomorrow’s Saturday again. and I have a special visitor coming to town=). Maybe I can squeeze in time to whip up a simple tag minibook for this visitor of mine.

Meanwhile I’ve gone on an adventurous path to create this piece for the challenge. You know, the birthday challenge, the one that’s due TOMORROW=P.
